Product Description

A great way to get into all grain brewing! These 10 gallon coolers work very well as mash tuns for five and ten gallon batches as you'll notice barely any temperature loss throughout your 1hr+ mash. Comes with a stainless ball valve cooler kit and a 12" stainless steel false bottom. The barb size on the mash tun for the output is 1/2". All metal parts are stainless steel.  This is a complete mash tun and all parts are included so that it is ready for use.  Some assembly is required.  You can also select the option above to add a 3" dial thermometer with a six inch or two probe to the mash tun.

This makes the critical process of monitoring your mash temperature a cinch.  The thermometer is a weldless dial thermometer and is installed just like the valve.  We will drill the Igloo cooler and install thermometer. The thermometer is not included unless selected above.  Our staff highly recommends the thermometer as it is an easy way to keep a close eye on the mash temperature without having to open the lid.

Your final option is to choose the ball valve.  The standard ball valve is made up of a SS valve and a standard 1/2" bulkhead that will attach to the nipple that attaches to the false bottom.  The upgrade to the heavy duty ball valve has the same SS valve but has the heavy duty bulkhead that is easier to install and allows for more secure and leak proof attachment.

  1. Almost perfect!

Thermometer need mounted lower in the mash tun sits to high for small strike water volumes. Other than that works great at a great price!

  4. Great Mash Tun

The item worked perfectly for what my needs are. Easy to assemble, easy to clean and use. For all intensive purposes, a home brewer will not actually need much more than this item. The only issue was that the valve does not mount as well as it could. There is a high stress point and you can feel a great deal of deflection in the valve when you turn the handle. I would like to see a backing plate on the inside and outside of the valve fittings to distribute stress a little more. Since I work in a place that deals a LOT with sheet metal, I will probably make my own.

  5. Great Value

What a deal great product great price, at least 30% cheaper than anywhere else I found.

  6. Nearly as expected

I ordered the standard stainless steel ball valve. The 1/2" female nipple connection was delivered stripped and with burrs that made the assembly impossible without purchasing a new piece. Other than that it performs as expected.

  7. Mash tun

Good cooler, stainless steel valve, and false bottom. Clear instructions and did not leak with my brewing.

  9. Works great!

Very happy with the mash tun, and the price is right! I was sold on the all-stainless parts. However, when I assembled it, I did have a little difficulty with the very short 1" nipple that was included. This has to attach to the ball valve, go through the wall of the cooler, and attach to the coupler inside the cooler. I was barely able to get a good fit with the coupler and the nipple, since very little of the nipple was sticking through the wall. I would have preferred a 1.5" nipple instead. However, I went cheap and chose the "standard" ball valve assembly, and perhaps the heavy duty assembly comes with a longer nipple (not sure). I've done one brew with it so far, and so far so good - no leaks!
