Good quality, nothing like this sold nearby. I bought this for a gravity water filter i was building. Valve needed to be attached and remember to use pipe tape when fitting it. Don't ask me how I know. would buy again

5 Gallon Stainless Stockpot with Ball Valve

Posted by Brewer Bill on 8th Oct 2019

I found this to be a real good value. You can spend this much or more for just the pot at some stores. And this comes with a very high quality steel ball valve and all needed parts. The only thing I would add that other reviewers haven't mentioned, is make sure you have a small round file. I found the valve porthole to be a little rough. I had to do a little filing to make sure the o-rings had a smooth surface to butt up to and not leak.

    Good Value

The pot itself is fine quality. There's not really any assembly for the ball valve. This worked for me:

Use ~6-8 layers of teflon tape around any threads. Then, from outside to inside, place the parts like this: spigot/valve/handle -> the washer -> barb(? I think it's called)-> Kettle wall -> big washer -> little washer -> nut.

This image is a good visual. https://web.archive.org/web/20190730145914/http://www.hoptomology.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/ASSMY1.jpeg

    Works as advertised

This stainless steel pot works as advertised. The only thing was however they had the spigot screwed on was the opposite of what ended up working for me without leaks. Other than that it's all good.

Great price for a starter brew kettle!

Posted by Dan on 6th Mar 2017

Purchased this as an inexpensive upgrade from a 2gal stockpot to be able to brew more beer. The price is fantastic. It's not the highest quality, but I wasn't expecting a $200+ kettle. The spigot was a great bonus- so handy for transferring wort/beer. Only issue was I had to buy teflon tape and seal up the threading of the spigot to prevent leaks... no biggie! Thanks I would recommend for a value brew kettle to beginners!
